Thanks to Red104.9 and Stephanie, I get to spend an evening up in Genting to watch Michael Learns To Rock (MLTR) perform LIVE.
Now, it has been awhile since Stephanie and I last went up to Genting to watch a concert and one word I can say of this performance. AWESOME!
We took a drive up to Genting around 6.30pm, reaching Gohtong Jaya for a quick dinner and then proceed for the rest of the drive up to First World Hotel. By the time we walk into Arena of Stars, it was already 8.20pm. Now alot of time when you go for any kind of concerts, be it a local artist or a foreign artist, they never starts on time. Right? Well guess what? Even though it was just 8.20pm, we could hear a song almost reaching it's conclusion. Looking at each other, we were dumbfounded as this concert actually has started! Rushing in, we made our way to our seats which incidentally is only 20 rows away from the stage. Now these are Prime Seats!
The whole concert lasted for about 2 hours and a 1/2 with MLTR performing all the hit songs from all the albums they've released to date. And sitting there, you can feel the atmosphere as the whole arena practically sang along with MLTR throughout all the songs that was played. They also performed 1 new songs that night, one which they've recently recorded in India for their LIVE album.
All in all, the performance was top class. One thing I'd just want to get off my chest is that, this is the first time I attend a concert which doesn't allow the concert goers to take pictures of the performance. Now, why is that? Can someone from Genting please enlighten me? Of course, the restriction didn't stop the fans from snapping away at any opportunity they get including myself. But yeah, it's quite irritating and weird that whenever I raised my camera to take a shot of the concert, a Security officer or a staff of Genting would walk up to me and block the path of my lens with their hands or a sign that says NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED. Why is that? Why is it that concert goers can't take photographs of the concert while Photographers from the Press and their own staffs are snapping away with their cameras? Sigh... weird but I hope that there's an explanation for it.
